Meet the Staff and Volunteers of the
Sibley County Historical Society
Amy Newsom is the part-time Executive Director for the Sibley County Historical Society. She assumes this role as part of her position as Sibley County Community Development Director. Amy has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Minnesota State University – Mankato, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science with a Minor in U.S. History from North Dakota State University.
Amy oversees the museum archives and programs, manages the accession of items donated to the museum, manages the volunteer personnel, markets the Sibley County Historical Society, writes grants for the Society, and coordinates the fundraising efforts.
The Education, Facilities, and Nominating Committees will report to the Executive Director.
The Communications Manager is a volunteer position that serves as Editor and Chief of the Sibley County Historical Society newsletter. The Communications Manager is the head of the Communications Committee.
The Collections Manager is a volunteer position as the Sibley County Historical Society and is responsible for cataloging, photographing, and data entry of all items in the Museum’s vast collections. The Collections Manager is the head of the Collections Committee.

Archives and Digital Collection Manager
The Archives Manager is a volunteer position responsible in overseeing the digital files at the Museum. The Archives Manager is responsible for indexing, filing, digitizing, and preserving the Museum’s photos, documents, artwork and digital media. The Archives/Digital Collections Manager is the head of the Archives/Digital Collections Committee.
Our In-House Researcher is a volunteer position and an avid genealogist. She is responsible for all research requests whether by mail, e-mail, or in person. The In-House Researcher is the head of the Research Committee.
Our Education/Programs Manager is in charge of planning Historical Society events, programs, museum tours, training museum tour guides, annual meeting, and County Fair booth. The Education/Programs Manager is the head of the Education Committee.
